The purpose of this Communication is:

To Pass worthy Candidates into the Fellow Craft Degree.

To conduct any business which may be presented in due form to the Lodge.

An informal meal after the Degree Work is planned, for which prior registration is required either through the Bro. Secretary, or the Contact Form on this site.

The Dark Period

Every year Lodges in Germany, and often elsewhere around the world, close down for two months – usually July and August – for a brief Dark Period, when they do not meet officially or work together. These are our two holiday months, when brethren rest, learn, and recuperate after a full Masonic year of work. In the present climate, where health and safety concerns are uppermost in our thoughts, that Dark Period is much longer. We do, however, continue with our Masonic work privately, prepare for the new Masonic year as best we can, and keep an eye open for both new Candidates, and for good causes which deserve our attention, through charity work.

For this Lodge, the new Masonic year begins with a special celebration, where the new Master of the Lodge and his Officials are installed into their various Stations and Positions, in September. The year ends and begins, though, with a remembrance of the founding of the first Grand Lodge in London, where several English Lodges came together to form what we now consider to be the most modern era of Freemasonry, where a new order came into the movement, and it began to spread across the world, seeking like-minded men, and women. This date, 24 June, is both the official date of the founding of that first Grand Lodge, and the celebratory day of St. John the Baptist, one of the holy Saints of Freemasonry.

Despite this Dark Period, Lodges work on the advancement of the Masonic Ideals, and seek those who have an interest in joining and advancing both themselves, and Freemasonry itself. Whereby, no one goes out and accosts interesting potential members on the street, or door-to.do, but watch and assess their suitability as upstanding men of good standing. Those who appear to be of suitable character are invited to join us, and to learn more about Freemasonry through person contact and an open exchange of information, opinions, and experience.

Likewise, those who feel a pull towards the Masonic ideals are welcomed in their inquiries into Freemasonry. Should the ideals of Freemasonry, the close friendships which it brings, and the good work which springs from this close and careful work, appeal to you, then feel free to ask, without any sense of obligation to join, for more information.

Cancellation of Works

By order of the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the American Canadian Grand Lodge and in light of the continuing health and safety regulations issued by the German government, all Meetings of this Lodge are cancelled until 31 August 2021. A further assessment of the situation will be made in mid-August 2021 and information passed to members in good time.

Interested in Freemasonry?

The physical Lodge may well be closed at the moment, as we battle the pandemic raging across the world, but that does not mean we are not here. Our work in the Craft continues in private, as we continue to work on ourselves, and ensure that our fellow brethren, and the people around us, are cared for.

Likewise our work in speaking to potential Candidates, anyone who is genuinely interested in Freemasonry – whether in English, German or Turkish continues. While our Lodge works exclusively in the English language, there are also many others working close by, and throughout Germany, who employ other languages. We are more than happy to pass information on to other Lodges, and allow contact, as much as we are more than happy to entertain questions and pass on information about this Lodge.

So even i n these drastic times of lockdown and separation, we are only a mail away, and you can use our Contact form to get in touch, pose your questions, learn about the Craft and, eventually, come together with us for personal meetings and the possibility of joining us in our work.

Work Cancellation – November

With regret, but in accordance with national and local regulations, the Stated Communication for November 2020, and the planned Third Monday in November, have been cancelled. A decision on the Degree Work planned for December will be made and published in due course.

Summer Vacation

With the end of the Masonic Year, the Lodge is now retiring into the official summer vacation. Information on informal meetings during this period are sent out to all Members of the Lodge privately, and may be acquired by visiting Brethren through application to the Secretary, or through the Contact page here. This applies to the monthly First Saturday work day and Third Monday.

We wish all Brethren, no matter where they may find themselves, a safe and enjoyable vacation, and look forward to coming together with you when Work continues, and subject to the restrictions which will then be in place.

Stated Communication – Cancellation

Due to the continuing COVID-19 restrictions in place in Bremen, the Stated Communication which would normally been scheduled to take place on 2 May 2020, has been postponed.

A notice concerning the Third Monday on 18 May 2020, and the Election Meeting planned for Saturday, 6 June 2020, will be issued in good time.

Cancellation – Stated Communication in April

After careful consideration and consultation it has been agreed that the Stated Communication planned for North Sea Armed Forces Lodge #829 for Saturday, 4 April 2020, is cancelled.

It is expected that the restrictions presently in place within Bremen and the surrounding area will be increased over the coming days but, regardless of when such restrictions are promulgated, the health and welfare of our brethren, their friends and family, comes first.

At present there is no firm decision on the Third Monday in April, which will be scheduled but might be cancelled also, depending on our situation closer to the time.

All brethren are requested to remain in touch with one another, to remember our Principles and, if within the length of their cable tow, to help and assist those others around them in their time of need.

St. John’s Day – 24 June 2019

St John has a very special place in Freemasonry, as he is taken as one of the patrons of the Craft, and it was on this day in 1717 that the first Grand Lodge was officially formed in London. For Masons it is, therefore, the first day of a new Masonic year, and one where many celebrate with a Festival of Roses and a special Ritual Work.

The Ritual Work signifies the ending of the Masonic year, the beginning of a new Masonic year.

The three Roses signify Birth, Life and eventual Death at the end of a worthwhile and fulfilled life.

On behalf of the Worshipful Master, Officers and Brethren of this worthy Lodge, erected to the memory of the Holy St John, I wish you well.

Summer Vacation

With the successful completion of the elections of Officers for the coming year the North Sea Armed Forces Lodge winds down for a well-earned summer vacation. With many thanks and warmest greetings to all those who have taken part in our events over the last year and, of course, the wish to meet again in the new year.

The Installation of the new Worshipful Master and his Team will be announced officially in due course but, for those wishing to make notes well in advance, it has been set for Saturday, 2 September 2017.
